This year’s Valentines were really fun to make, but we ran into a few logistical issues.

.

  1. After purchasing all the lollipops I was going to need to make our Valentines for all the kids in BOTH of Skylar’s Kindergarten classes, we got a note from one of the schools informing us that there will be no candy allowed. Sigh.
  2. I have sticks that could be used to modify our project for the non-sugar class, but I don’t have enough for both classes.
  3. I don’t want to have to go to the store to return stuff and purchase new items, so I am going to make 2 different sets of Valentines.
  4. I am crazy.

.

So here we have a great Valentine project that can be done with or without a sugary treat.  First up…Sugar!

.

Lips/Mustache Lollipop

For both projects, you will need to make some cutouts of lips and mustaches out of fun foam.  I free-handed a template on some leftover cardboard, and made enough for both projects.  You will need 1 lips for each girl, and 1 mustache for each boy. For this project each child will also need 1 lollipop.

.

.

Poke a small hole in the cut out.  The lips should have a hole right in the center, while the mustache’s hole should be more towards the bottom.

.

.

.

Then, push the stick of a lollipop through the hole.

.

.

When the kids eat their lollipops they will look like they have giant lips, or a huge mustache!

.

Now here’s another way to use these lips and mustaches without candy:

.

Mustache/Lips on a Stick

.

Use the same fun foam lips and mustaches as in the first project.  You will also need some sticks and a glue gun.  Glue the stick to the back of one of the cut-outs, towards one side.

.

.

Attach a scrap piece of fun foam over the stick, to both cover it and secure it even more.

.

.

Now you have a fun little toy to make faces with.

.

.

And if your daddy is really good with graphics, you may find yourself in some interesting photos: (Let’s hope this is the only time we see this!)

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

  1. These are so cute! I love the shots of your daughter with a mustache.

Thank you so much for linking to the Virtual Valentine’s Day Party on my blog. Please take a moment between now and the end of the party Monday night to visit a few of the other party guests. I would love to everyone who linked up to have other guests stop by for a visit.

Remember if you visit two guests and leave me a comment that you did you could win a $15 Visa Gift Card.

This is really cute. (Reminds me of the wax mustaches we enjoyed when I was a child!)
