A Little Bit of This & That

The Random Things We Love to Make and Do

Baby Loves Disco September 25, 2010

Last year I took my daughter to a really cool event, called Baby Loves Disco.  They make stops all over the country, and in Chicago it’s held at The Metro (Yes, really!).  I have been to The Metro several times to see alternative bands play, and now I take my little daughter there.  It’s a little surreal, but very cool at the same time.

This is basically a dance party for little kids.  The lights are dim, the spotlights are flashing, and there is kid-appropriate dance music playing.  Everyone, old and young, are dancing around, playing with shakers and scarves, and having a great time.  There are pros there doing rock star hairstyles, there are snacks provided, and there is even an area where kids can sit and play with toys or read a book.

Perhaps "Thiller" was playing?

This year, Baby Loves Disco is partnered with Alex’s Lemonade Stand. This organization was started by a little girl who had been diagnosed with childhood cancer. She decided to set up a lemonade stand, and wanted to give all the money she made to doctors so they could “help other kids, like they helped me.” The rest is history.

This is such a fun and interesting thing to do with your little ones.  And there is no limit to how little your little ones are.  Non-walkers are free! I highly recommend this event to anyone looking for something different.  I mention this now because Baby Love Disco will be at The Metro tomorrow!  For those of your who are not in the Chicagoland area, never fear.  Remember, they travel around the country, so make sure to check out their upcoming events and see if they are coming near you.  Below are a few links I should give you:
